About
Rhian Sian Morris
Rhian’s practice intertwines performance, artistic research and scenography. Her practice seeks to reconfigure relationships in light of the anthropocene, looking to qualities of vulnerability and fragility and how these perceived weaknesses can connect us.
Her sensory choreographies and immersive environments foreground nonhuman timescales and bodily, sensuous knowledge. She seeks to tip the scales away from the hegemony of the ocular, linear and rational, in favour of the messy, intertwined and unknowable.
Rhian develops collaborative practices to connect people across time and space, to empower people through shared intimacy, and to weave our lives in sacred connection with the ecological web. Her practice is an expanded form of scenography, focusing on the translation of experience/knowledge through different vocabularies, such as from movement to visualisation to sound.
How can these art forms speak to each other, what are the gaps between them where things get lost and what does this reveal about our human connectedness?
Alongside and entwined with her artistic practice Rhian is a creative producer, writer, dancer and facilitator.
